Blue skies seem to be working as a pretty good treatment for the slump that I had started to get into towards the end of the semester. This school year has certainly been a difficult one with two major unexpected surprises. This year I had to make two of the hardest decisions in my life. And those decisions will stay with me forever. I know I will definitely carry them in my heart. But after it all happened it helped me to see that the fragile insecure teenager that I had seemed to be all my life had grown into a strong, confident woman. Although I sometimes feel insecure and unsure now and then, I am beginning to realize that as long as I give it my all, things will be okay. Now the school year is over, and I am hoping with a little bit more time on my hands I can actually begin to enjoy my newfound viewpoint in life. I find that I have a fresher outlook, a thirst for adventure that had always been there but I was constantly trying to suppress, to no avail. My friends are always telling me to write an autobiography because my life has been so eventful. Maybe one day, when I’m sure that I can write it without pain, resentment, shame or fear to color my story. It isn’t that I live with these things constantly but to revisit some of that again will require some more fortitude, something I am looking forward to strengthening in me as I continue through my personal journey.
Aaahh so summer is here and I am looking forward to making memories and having some adventures. Like I said blue skies work wonders and I hope this summer will be a truly beautiful one for me and for all of you.

We must learn to deal with our discomfort with discussing race. Racism is still very alive in Modern America. To deny it for fear of confronting it or discomfort with examining our own actions and thoughts is to continue to deny all people’s equality and the ability to speak up for their rights. Allies, please don’t ever deny a person of color (or any person’s) legitimate claim to speak up against something they feel is unjust, offensive or insensitive. This invalidation of their truth only acts to further silence a people who have already had so much taken from them.

I know you don’t quite trust me to not break your heart but like George Michael said, you gotta have faith. And I am willing to put down my sword, lay down my armor to see where we can take this. For once I don’t need pretty words. I’ve spoken of us like building a fire, you call us a flower being pressured to bloom. I feel like an anxious child on Christmas waiting to unwrap her presents, containing so much excitement I just may pop. I don’t want to pop. I love the patience, the comfort, the security I feel.
